Large Ensembles
We have a variety of large ensembles at Markham Music including Grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 symphonic band, and grade 11/12 mega band! In these ensembles we play everything from fast and exciting pieces to lyrical compositions. We perform annually at the Winter and Spring Concerts at the Markham Flato Theatre, and at the Ontario Band Association (OBA) where we are adjudicated by professional band judges.
The Markham Music Program is proud to have 3 official choirs including Resonance, Chamber Choir, and Third Stream. They are all grade 9-12 choirs that sing lots of exciting music with different parts such as soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, and bass! They all perform annually at the Vocals Festival and at many of our school events such as Remembrance Day and both of our Winter and Spring Concerts!

Jazz Ensembles
You can be in a jazz ensemble in every grade here in Markham Music! Play different styles including funk, pop, blues, rock, swing, and many more. In addition to performing in our Winter and Spring concerts, we also have an annual gig at The Duchess on Main Street Markham. Whether you already play a jazz instrument or want to try a new instrument, we encourage everyone to join!
We have a variety of chamber groups that perform at numerous events. Woodwind quintets, saxophone quartets, and even string quintets have the opportunity to perform for audiences as a small ensemble. And if we don’t have a group you want to play in, it’s easy to create one! Our teachers will give you their guidance and support.
